Collecting Survivor Stories

Reclaiming Power: Hmong Survivor Stories of Sexual Abuse

Reclaiming Power: Hmong Survivor Stories of Sexual Abuse is an archival project about “Collecting Survivor Stories” to compile and uplift the voices of victims/survivors’ lived experiences around sexual violence in the Hmong community. We want to grant space in which victims/survivors have been able to rebuild their lives through resiliency, resourcefulness, support and for some, forgiveness.

The purpose is to build visibility and awareness about sexual violence in Hmong communities, develop language on how to talk about it, identify how it can look like, and nurture a network of sexual violence advocates and champions who challenge these harmful practices in our commitment to ending sexual and gender-based violence.

We are opening up submissions for our Collecting Survivor Stories project! Names in the stories will be anonymous. If at any point we decide to utilize your piece, we will always make sure to contact you to get your consent.

This is phase one of a larger project that Transforming Generations is building around visibility and awareness of sexual violence in the Hmong community
